Holiday apartment or hotel in Regensburg?

Anyone looking for a holiday apartment in Regensburg usually wants both at once: the freedom of an apartment – and interiors of a kind a holiday apartment rarely offers. Domresidenz, in Regensburg's Old Town, is neither a classic hotel nor an ordinary holiday apartment. It combines the calm and independence of a home away from home with the comfort and personal care of a small, distinctive house.

The freedom of an apartment

Each of the three apartment suites offers approximately 65 m² of space, two bedrooms, an open living and dining area, a fully equipped kitchen and room for up to four guests. What sets the suites apart from a classic holiday apartment is the house itself: French Empire furniture, original art and design classics stand between walls dating from the 12th and 13th centuries, and historic sandstone portals shape the hallway and entrance. Modern amenities – from box-spring beds to underfloor heating – are integrated thoughtfully into this character.

As in a holiday apartment, you set the pace of your own day. The kitchen is fully equipped – induction hob, dishwasher, Nespresso machine – and the EDEKA supermarket on Residenzstraße is about two minutes' walk away. And for breakfast, the cafés of the Old Town are waiting just outside the door – a privilege of the location, a few steps from the Cathedral.

A personal host

What a holiday apartment often lacks is part of the house here: between 3 and 6 p.m. you are welcomed in person; if you arrive later, an individual access code lets you check in flexibly and without fuss. Bathrobes, towels and slippers are laid out for you. A washing machine and dryer are available free of charge, and a lift connects all floors of the house.

The German Tourism Association (DTV) has classified the apartment suites with five stars – the highest category for holiday accommodation. We deliberately do without a large hotel operation; in return, we know every guest personally. From seven nights, an interim cleaning is included.

What suits your stay

Some things a hotel does better: daily housekeeping, a breakfast buffet, a spa. And if you are staying for many weeks and looking above all for the lowest price, you will find it among the simpler holiday apartments. Domresidenz is for guests who want both – the independence of an apartment and a house that looks after them with care. Families and friends travelling together especially appreciate the two separate bedrooms behind one front door.

Our guests confirm it: 5.0 on Google, 5.0 on Tripadvisor – ranked number 1 of the speciality lodgings in Regensburg – and 9.9 out of 10 on Booking.com (as of September 2026).
